We had an early start to day 9 as we wanted to maximise the amount of time we got to explore the Viking longship museum in Roskilde.
After a couple of trains we arrived at Roskilde and had a picnic breakfast in the park. The weather decided it was going to make us a bit damp but thankfully it didn’t last long and we got to the dry sanctuary of the museum.
In the museum we had a quick wander around before taking the guided tour through the museum with a very enthusiastic tour guide who told us all about the 5, not 6, wrecks they recovered from Roskilde Fjord. The 5 ships were scuttled for use as a defensive barrier on one of the entry points to the fjord and they all had varying histories behind where they came from and what they were used for.
We then popped to the shop to pick up some Danish sausages for lunch and then walked up into the national park to cook them.
We headed back to the station via a quick look at the church.
After a couple of trains and a bus we arrived at Bovegang. We cooked another curry as we had rice to use up and then hit the hay ready to explore Copenhagen in the morning.
